Louisiana Response to COVID-19 (Updated March 27, 2020)
Updated March 27, 2020
Dear Clients and Friends,
The novel coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19, has rapidly and appropriately become a top priority for governments, businesses, communities, and families worldwide. I share your concerns and my heart goes out to those who have already been negatively impacted by this pandemic and to those who may face difficult choices in the near future.
Nothing is more important to me than the health and safety of clients, and vendors and the many other people with whom I interact every day. I would like to briefly discuss these two areas.
How am I responding in the Near Term?
First, I believe that it is imperative that everyone follow the guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and applicable federal, state, and local government entities on appropriate actions to minimize the impact of COVID-19. Primarily, this means limiting in-person contact or “social distancing”.
How can we maintain “social distancing” and still address your legal needs?
My office is equipped to maintain contact with you via telephone, facsimile, email, video conferencing via FaceTime, Skype or Zoom. Calling my main office number shown above will still get you to me or to a voice mailbox. Either leave me a voice mailbox message or a message with my receptionist (Please note, calls to my direct line, i.e. that do not go through the receptionist may not get to me timely so please call the main number to ensure that I get your message and can return your call).
If you are a new or potential client, I have an electronic intake system that can be filled out by you on your home computer or smartphone. Each form is designed to obtain the basic information I need according to the issue you need to be addressed. While this may not give me all of the information I need to assist you, it will give me a good start to evaluate your needs and will make our initial contact, whether it be by phone or video conference much more productive.
Years ago, I started maintaining a “paperless” office and most of my files and case information is located securely in the “cloud”. At your request, I can provide clients with secure access to files, calendars and other information from my client's location.
- I am keeping up with the latest developments in the law as they impact my clients and the practice of law. I will endeavor to update my website to keep you apprised of these changes.
How Can I Assist You?
I will continue to monitor and where possible provide substantive information on the numerous legal issues arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. I will continue to update a Disaster Prep & Recovery Blog with timely information, articles, and other resources. I am committed to answering your questions and helping you navigate these difficult times.
Thank you for your ongoing trust in me and my office. I look forward to working with you to address and overcome these current challenges.
Wishing all the best to you and your family.
